It lies in the eastern part of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county near the Slovak-Hungarian border at Bodrogköz.

Number of inhabitants: 881 persons, number of unemployed: 80 persons. The proportion of Roma residents is about 5 to 8%.

The settlement of the conquest, the first written mention, dates back to 1358. Bereck was the property of the Szerdahelyi family, after which the holders of each other were frequently changed, in 1594 Zsigmond Rákóczi and Ferenc and András Zákány in 1649. The area includes the Zsarótanya and Ágóczpuszta.

Brother's Village, Vineyard and Szomotor. Its geographic features are good, as the proximity of Felsőberecki, which can be approached through the settlement, and where Bodrogon ships can land on Hungarian territory, we can establish direct water connections with Slovakia.

It's been a long time ago and now it is a popular hunting area where smaller and bigger game can be found. The village is famous for its hunting lodge located on the shore of Bodrog.
